  The District School Board of Pasco County, one of Florida's premier public school systems, is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for more than 66,000 students. The Pasco County School System is recognized across the state for its innovative and challenging instructional programs, teaching practices focusing on technology, and high standards of excellence. The school system's design for schools is based on the concept of the Community of Connected Schools. The concept is founded on the principal of Continuous Progress, which enables students to move through the educational program in a seamless flow at a rate that makes the accomplishment of high standards both challenging and achievable.

  The school system includes 43 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, 11 high schools, and 4 specialized education centers. To meet the needs of our culturally diverse population of students, specialized programs are offered that include special needs and gifted educational studies, before and after school programs and child care services, and community education. Pasco County students perform are comparable to state and national averages on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) and the college entrance exams - Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and the American College Testing Program (ACT).

  

The West Campus of Pasco-Hernando Community College in New Port Richey is just a few minutes from downtown.  PHCC is a comprehensive, learning-centered college providing post secondary instruction leading to baccalaureate degrees, career-technical degrees and certificate programs.  PHCC also provides adult and continuing workforce education and opportunities for cultural enrichment and personal development.

PHCC is a major resource for education and training that promotes and supports local economic development.  The College has established partnerships with the University of South Florida, Hodges University, St. Leo University, and Barry University to provide baccalaureate and graduate degree offerings on the New Port Richey campus in programs including Education, Nursing, Business Administration, Management, Technology and Social Sciences.  As part of Florida’s educational system, PHCC is the major educational linkage partner between the public/private secondary schools and the state universities and private college serving our community.  As a dynamic, learning-centered educational institution, PHCC has a faculty and staff who are dedicated to student success, teaching excellence and community service.

  

Rasmussen College is a private, regionally accredited college that offers career-focused Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees through its five professional schools of Business, Allied Health, Technology and Design, Justice Studies, and Nursing. Rasmussen College is a premier provider of educational experiences dedicated to establishing a supportive student environment that facilitates success for its students.

Trinity College of Florida is located in the rapidly expanding Trinity Communities of Pasco County and offers associate and baccalaureate degrees with majors in Elementary Education, Counseling, Management and Ethics, and Christian Ministry.

There are also excellent private elementary and secondary schools in Pasco County. Genesis School has served the Tampa Bay area since 1977 and offers an exceptional instructional program to students in Preschool through Fifth Grade. Genesis Preparatory School, established in 1992, offers a rigorous college-preparatory program for students in Grades Six through Twelve. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School is a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school.  The BMCHS  college prep curriculum offers challenging academic courses and is expertly delivered by a well-qualified faculty through a one-to-one laptop program.
